Frankenstein's Monster

Frankenstein's Monster - Boris Karloff - ink 2013

Robert Johnson - Crossroads

I havn't done any comic stuff in awhile. So, I figured I'd have some fun, no pencil, no planning, just went into her. This is the story of Robert Johnson, the blues player from way waaayyyyy back, he wrote the song Crossroads. It's been told he sold his soul to a demon at a crossroads in order to play the guitar so damn good. Look him up, great music.

Yours Truly Poster

Most recent commission work I did for a show coming up on the 19th of October featuring Hamilton Hip hop artists T.Y., Hachey The Mouth PEACE, Bosquiate Clique and Mat Heddle (Slur). For more commission work swing by the page on this site. http://anthonyhaley.blogspot.ca/p/commission-work.html

Ron Perlman

Looking at it now...there's a couple things I need to fix and forgot to detail up a bit but..baaahhh it's done enough for school, I'll fix those tomorrow.

Ron Perlman rough colours

Been stuck in my Sons Of Anarchy faze lately trying to catch up with the series, finally start season 5...shhhh... Here's a piece I've been working on so far of Ron Perlman as Clay from SoA. He's still all in grey, just been trying to meld the background together with some textures then get into the painting of the face.

Sisyphus

Some school work done in my sketchbook. Based on the Myth of Sisyphus.

The Emsee Presents Empty Promises

One of the latest commissions I received was for The Emsee's album cover for his latest release "Empty Promises". If you havn't heard of this monster of an emcee/producer you should! He was one of the finalists for Canada's Got Talents and since then has been creating and working on this piece for the world to see. The give a listen online check out http://the-emsee.bandcamp.com/album/empty-promises And try to get your hands on a physical copy!!!

This was from the first single released off of Empty Promises, titled "Return (To The Music Biz).

I worked in my usual fashion for these two piece. I like to sketch out my work in pencil and once I've got my pencils fairly cleaned up I move into my ink. I work very traditional in the first stages then once I've finished the inks, I scan and begin to work and paint digitally in photoshop.

Childhood Fears

Never had a fear of going to the bathroom. Just thought I'd say that off the bat, this was more inspired by the scene in "Look Who's Talking" when the kid has the nightmare of the toilet wanting his peepee. Anyways, something for school, but I think I might sell this as a whole piece at the Fan Expo in August. Already plottin' and schemin' on what I'll be bringing new this year.

Stained....

Yeah so, it's been awhile since I posted anything on here. Been real busy, for those who have facebook, please be sure to follow me on there as well at www.facebook.com/doodlesundertheinfluence

Onto some of the work I've been doing since last semester,

These three pieces were done in November for Mindbender Supreme, a Toronto emcee who's been running a muck around the underground of Toronto's hip hop scene for over a decade. I got this job through OurSis Sam, a promoter based out of Hamilton. The photos were taken by a dude named Christoph, and I just manipulated colours and filters on photoshop.

I've started to get more work doing gig posters since Mindbender, this one here is for Everyday People, a hip hop (and I do mean HIP HOP) group based out of Hamilton. EDP is, Part Mada, Sin Yung, Pranx and DJ Kryme Won. This show is coming up in March, don't miss it!

This is the newest poster I've done for the Steel Gold shows that happen the first Thursday of every month. Next one is a biggie, and features myself and my comrade G performing as The Genius and The Demon. This show happens March 1st!

This here was the cover I did for Gavin and I's rap duo, The Genius and The Demon "Weird Science and the Spiritual Side of Things". This is the third release we've put out and it was released on Friday the 13th January, 2012. to check it out www.thegeniusandthedemon.bandcamp.com

Every year I make a Christmas card for my family, so this year I went with the Dark Knight, Batman. This was the first time I added colour to the cards.

Onto some more recent School Work, here's a piece where we combined two feelings and create something. I took love and greet and mixed it with Primus and took the names off some albums and used that imagery to describe greed.

This one involved having to find a song with a social or political statement behind it. I went with Hamilton emcee, Lee Reed's The Bank from his latest release Emergency Broadcast.

This wasn't for school, but is one of the latest commissioned illustration I did for a friend of mine Dan.

Other than all this, I've still been working a lot on HC stuff, hopefully I can start posting character designs soon. I've start working on storyboards for the guys to animate, I've also been doing a bit of animation/illustration for Dominant Factor, a group of videographers and graphic designers based out of Hamilton and Toronto.

AND also just got word today about FAN EXPO 2012! Myself and my three friends, Jeff, Dean and Adam will all be there again to sell, showcase and draw for all you lovely people.

Jesus Christ....

So this is a sequential assignment in one of my classes where we choose one of three excerpts from Craigs List, I chose the one titled, "You dropped your bible and I saw your thong." We were to recreate the scene described in the first illustration and the second is 10 to 25 years in the future.

I depict the guy who saw the thong as Jesus, who is just in awe of this woman behind he has to take a picture. Jesus finds himself inside the bar where he stood outside 10 years ago, and as coincidence he see the lady beside him, now at first he doesn't recognize her, but when she turned her back to him, he realized who it was. He pulls out his phone to confirm and uses this to break the ice. Well, it doesn't turn out to great, as shes not impressed...by Jesus.

Cadillac Storyboards

This is a storyboard I did for class. It's for Cadillac Escalade. This is the layout, we see two cars racing around a mountain in some kind of competition, then we fade out to see it's actually two children playing with cars in a sandbox bragging about their cars. Back in to the imagination, we start to see a rumble in the distance as a silhouetted SUV comes up from behind. Back in reality, the children dont know what to make of the noise so they continue to play, until they realize what's coming for them. It's played out in the imagination that the SUV coming from behind has caused them to bail and jump off a cliff. Then back in reality we see the kids have had to dodge out of the way for a Cadillac Escalade who's parked right on their sandbox. Zooming into the tire which has crushed both their toy cars, with a slogan "Cadillac...We Crush the Competition".

Charlie Chaplin Excerpt assignment part 1 and 2

Here's the completed pencils for the Charlie Chaplin speech assignment I've been doing. I've also included the second piece to this assignment as well, we had to make two and so I went with a collage approach..not very good at them really.

Hamilton Hip Hop Portrait Series (Lee Reed finish, Eklipz roughs)

Here's an update on the Hamilton Hip Hop Portraits series. I've completed Lee Reed and started on my second piece, Eklipz. This emcee who's been apart of Hamilton's hip hop scene since before I knew how to rhyme, is more than just man behind a mic. He's an artist, having done his own homage to hip hop recently with his book of portraits Hip Hop Homage, to check more out follow this link http://www.hiphop-homage.com/ and to check out his group Crown A Thornz video REAL! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cJu3F8Psz78

The Great Dictator roughs

Here's a rough of the one of the school pieces I'm working on. This is based on a section of the ending speech from Charlie Chaplin's, "The Great Dictator;

"The misery that is now upon us is but the passing of greed, the bitterness of men who fear the way of human progress: the hate of men will pass and dictators die and the power they took from the people, will return to the people and so long as men die liberty will never perish. Soldiers: don't give yourselves to brutes, men who despise you, enslave you, who regiment your lives, tell you what to do, what to think and what to feel, who drill you, diet you, treat you like cattle, use you as cannon fodder. Don't give yourselves to these unnatural men, machine men, with machine minds and machine hearts. You are not machines. You are not cattle. You are men. You have the love of humanity in your hearts. You don't hate, only the unloved hate. The unloved and the unnatural."

Charlie Chaplin.

Hamilton Hip Hop Portrait Series (Lee Reed, roughs)

Last weekend I went to a CD release show of a Hamilton Hip Hop artist that I've been a big fan of since grade ten when I first saw him perform, with his then band, Warsawpack. Lee Reed, is a political and social hip hop emcee who's passion for Hamilton hip hop is unlike anyone else. The show had acts from handful of local emcees who all just did amazing work, some friends of mine and some I've never heard of before. The vibe that's flowing through the city right now with hip hop is unlike anything I've ever felt. All of this inspired me so much so, that I felt the need to show my appreciation to all these hardworking individuals and groups. I decided to do a series of portraits of all the local emcees, djs, and any other pivotal people who contribute to the life of hip hop in Hamilton.

The first of this series is Lee Reed, which only seemed fitting. With these picture here, the first was a reductive rough sketch, from there I've started painting which is the second photo. Now the picture was taken in black and white, the painting is actually done in a bunch of different colours, but I'll post what it really looks like at once its finished. But I'm already thanking everyone who is already showing interest in the series and is supporting it already. I'm proud to be from Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.
