The Emsee Presents Empty Promises

One of the latest commissions I received was for The Emsee's album cover for his latest release "Empty Promises". If you havn't heard of this monster of an emcee/producer you should! He was one of the finalists for Canada's Got Talents and since then has been creating and working on this piece for the world to see. The give a listen online check out http://the-emsee.bandcamp.com/album/empty-promises And try to get your hands on a physical copy!!!

This was from the first single released off of Empty Promises, titled "Return (To The Music Biz).

I worked in my usual fashion for these two piece. I like to sketch out my work in pencil and once I've got my pencils fairly cleaned up I move into my ink. I work very traditional in the first stages then once I've finished the inks, I scan and begin to work and paint digitally in photoshop.

Stained....

Yeah so, it's been awhile since I posted anything on here. Been real busy, for those who have facebook, please be sure to follow me on there as well at www.facebook.com/doodlesundertheinfluence

Onto some of the work I've been doing since last semester,

These three pieces were done in November for Mindbender Supreme, a Toronto emcee who's been running a muck around the underground of Toronto's hip hop scene for over a decade. I got this job through OurSis Sam, a promoter based out of Hamilton. The photos were taken by a dude named Christoph, and I just manipulated colours and filters on photoshop.

I've started to get more work doing gig posters since Mindbender, this one here is for Everyday People, a hip hop (and I do mean HIP HOP) group based out of Hamilton. EDP is, Part Mada, Sin Yung, Pranx and DJ Kryme Won. This show is coming up in March, don't miss it!

This is the newest poster I've done for the Steel Gold shows that happen the first Thursday of every month. Next one is a biggie, and features myself and my comrade G performing as The Genius and The Demon. This show happens March 1st!

This here was the cover I did for Gavin and I's rap duo, The Genius and The Demon "Weird Science and the Spiritual Side of Things". This is the third release we've put out and it was released on Friday the 13th January, 2012. to check it out www.thegeniusandthedemon.bandcamp.com

Every year I make a Christmas card for my family, so this year I went with the Dark Knight, Batman. This was the first time I added colour to the cards.

Onto some more recent School Work, here's a piece where we combined two feelings and create something. I took love and greet and mixed it with Primus and took the names off some albums and used that imagery to describe greed.

This one involved having to find a song with a social or political statement behind it. I went with Hamilton emcee, Lee Reed's The Bank from his latest release Emergency Broadcast.

This wasn't for school, but is one of the latest commissioned illustration I did for a friend of mine Dan.

Other than all this, I've still been working a lot on HC stuff, hopefully I can start posting character designs soon. I've start working on storyboards for the guys to animate, I've also been doing a bit of animation/illustration for Dominant Factor, a group of videographers and graphic designers based out of Hamilton and Toronto.

AND also just got word today about FAN EXPO 2012! Myself and my three friends, Jeff, Dean and Adam will all be there again to sell, showcase and draw for all you lovely people.

Convention Commissions

Here are some of the sketch commissions I did over the last two days. From top to bottom. After I had did the awesome Oraguntan sketch, things went the way I was expecting them. My buddy that I used to work with Dan came by with his brother Darren and asked me to do a Cylon sketch for him. That was on Saturday. The next sketch is of Pyramid Head, one of the first things I had done Sunday morning when I got there. I got to have fun explaining what I was drawing to a Police Officer, it was pretty funny. The Spider Man drawing was just something I was doing to pass the time on Saturday, and before the day was done on Sunday I had given it away to a little girl wearing a Spider Man shirt. She didn't say anything, but she had a big smile on her face so I guess she liked it. Finally I had gotten a Mortal Kombat commission on Sunday of Noob Sibot fighting Ermac, I had another one asked to do but because of the Con Cold I was focusing on trying to fight the whole day, I had forgotten to take a picture of. The other was of Noob Sibot again, but this time punching Shao Khan in the face, wish I had remembered to take a picture of that. Anyways, the last one here was another one I was doing to pass the time on Saturday, I thought about what might happen when to Time Travelers meet, I pictured it like when cartoons finds themselves in "nowhere" and its all white. So I did the obvious Time LORD, the Doctor, and had him meeting with a pair of duuuudes I grew up loving, Bill and Ted, and I couldn't have them in there without George RIP. While I was drawing this I had someone come by and say they liked it and would come by later to pick it up when its finished, well he never did, so on Sunday I ended up giving it away to a guy who looked just like the Doctor. He thanked me a lot.

First Fan Expo Commission

Kevin had come up to me and ask, "Hey, so you do commission sketches?". Of course I said yeah, and was eager to do my first commission. He then leaned in and said "Can you do an Orangoutang in a doctor/dentist jacket? Maybe have him at a bar having a rye." I uneasily said yes, and found myself stuck with a commission I had no idea how to draw. In fact, my first words to Jeff was "How the fuck do you draw an Orangoutang?!" But thanks to Dean and Meaghan they found me some reference. Needless to say, its a first Con Commission I will never forget.

Stealth Elementz - STEALTH Mix Tape Cd Cover touch up

This is something I had done last summer, but I had touched up recently on photoshop to really bring out the colours. This is the mix tape for a local Hamilton Hip Hop artist by the name of Stealth Elementz. To hear a song from this mix tape click on the link here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=adODR6U3cVA and it will take you to one of the music videos off this mix tape entitled "They Say Sean Is". Get out there and support your local music.

CD Portrait Cover

Rough portrait piece I'm working on for a friend of mine's CD cover.

Wraith Tat Design Finished

Inked this today, its a tattoo design for my friend. It's my character called Wraith done in the costume Gerard de la Costa came up with.

Portraits of the Dead

A portrait of my mother's friend from works late father...Space Ballsy enough for yeah?

I seem to be getting asked to do portraits of the deceased instead of the living... come on people, Im not that scary that you have to off yourself before I draw you.

Hanging Cock...WHAT?!

Another Tattoo design...I think life's trying to tell me something. Anyways, yeah another tat design, this ones for my buddy Brandon, he's getting this Rooster being hung below his knee. That way he can bet people when he goes to bars that he has a cock hanging below his knee.

Welsh Dragon Tattoo Design

A tattoo design I did for my manager at work of the Welsh Dragon.

Mind's Eye - Maya Backstory

Okay, so I lied even to myself. Saying I would only work on my cousin and I's zombie story Dead Fix but instead taking on a four page project for an online tv series entitled "Mind's Eye". It's a children's show but can be enjoyed by all ages, to check out episodes and more info go to www.mindseyeseries.com

The story here is the first four pages to one of the villains backstories. Her name is Maya...other than that, really thats all I know hah. But I did enjoy doing it.

Venetian Demon finished pencils

Here's the finished pencils to my friends tattoo with some changes from my original drawing. I'll be re adding the horns for my own liking.

But now, I'm going back to focusing only on Dead Fix.

The Venetian Demon (Tattoo design)

Here's the rough put together I did on photoshop of the tattoo thats going on my friend's back. The Space I have to work with is 21inch high by 17 inchest wide at the shoulders and 11inch at the waist. So yeah, that's pretty effin' big. I love it! It's inspired me to work on my Last Supper piece I did back in grade 12, that I never completely finished. My very own Da Vinci Demon series.

Tattoo fix up

Buddy of mine has paid me to add some detail to a tattoo of his, which has no sparked several of my friends to get me to draw the designs for their tattoos. I've always been interested in tattooing, and I don't know what it is but whenever I tell someone I'm an artist they always ask me if I either tattoo or can design them one. So, I'm going to put together and portfolio of a bunch of different stuff and see if I can maybe apprentice somewheres.

Stealth Elementz - STEALTH Mix Tape Cd Cover

Commission work I did for a friend of mine who emcee's, Stealth Elementz. He's from Hamilton, like myself, and is proud of it so he got me to his cover and use some Hamilton imagery; Copps Coliseum and Ivor Wynne Stadium as backgrounds. Make sure to check out some of his tracks at http://www.myspace.com/stealthelementz and for anyone in the Hamilton area, I'll be posting later on as to where you can find this Mix Tape once it's released.

R.E.A.L Kids Magazine

So, I've been waiting to put these up for about a month now. Just got the magazine in today, and it looks great from what I've been told. I havn't seen it yet. But yeah, so here's the pages I did for R.E.A.L Kids Magazine Canada.

REAL Kids Magazine...

So I took on a job that I probably should've gotten all the information on first. Seems like I might be dropping this work due to a very tight schedule that I can't work with due to my part time job and other commission work thats paying more for less work. I'll decided later today.

One poster down, five more to go.

I think my a.a.d.d is starting to get under control. I've just finished this commissioned piece for a musician friend of mine, Karl Mohr. I'll be sure to put up a link to his website down where the others are at the bottom of the page.

Wolverine and Cable

Something I did for a friend. Started working on last year around November, but than had to stop due to shit tones of homework. Now that I've been done school for a couple weeks now I got it done.

And now that this is done and the first page of the Ashcan is done (thats right now peeks yet!) I'm going up to Huntsville to relax, and try not to draw, though I'll probably do a couple sketches while I'm up there. But mostly for relaxing time. (I have to keep telling myself this).
